On the back of a postcard dated May 20 2008 Randy Byers nicely printed the following Letter of Comment (LoC).
"Dear John -
"Just wanted to let you know that I read your piece on Nippon 2007 in FILE 770 and thought it was utterly terrific. I was particularly moved by your moment of shared glory at the SFFY Hugos, but I was deeply impressed in general by your effectiveness as a bridge between cultures. It was sensawunda - inspiring to see the Japanese Worldcon through your eyes."
